KiCadFusion 360 CNC MillingPCB Design
From market gap
to market launch.

Identified a gap in the custom mechanical keyboard market and executed the full end-to-end development of a premium 65% layout keyboard — from PCB design to CNC-milled case to commercial launch.

Every engineering decision was made with manufacturability and market viability in mind. The Motif 65 was the first time I took a hardware product from a problem statement all the way to a customer.

PCB to production.

PCB Design: Designed a custom PCB in KiCad with clean trace routing to prevent signal interference. Laid out the switch matrix, controller placement, and USB routing across the 65% layout while maintaining strict EMI discipline.

Case Engineering: Engineered a premium top-mount architecture optimized for typing feel and structural rigidity. Used Fusion 360 pressure simulation to identify and eliminate switch plate hot spots before committing to CNC manufacturing.

Manufacturing Iteration: Resolved tolerance failures across three manufacturer iterations — adjusting fit between PCB, plate, and case until the build achieved target feel and zero assembly issues. Took the design from CAD prototype to commercial market launch.
